Adam M. Brooks, CFP®

Managing Director
Senior Financial Advisor

Having grown up in a family business, Adam Brooks has a distinct perspective on the challenges and successes of being a business owner. He’s seen first-hand the commitment and dedication required to develop and nurture an idea and bring it to fruition as a successful business venture. As a result, his clients experience the same level of commitment and passion necessary to accomplish their goals and objectives. In 2021, Adam was recognized as one of Barron’s Top 1,200 Financial Advisors. He was humbled to receive this accolade, which he believes represents an impressive list of professionals that come to work with one goal on their mind—helping their clients succeed.

As a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) practitioner, Adam has been guiding individuals, businesses, and non-profit organizations toward their financial goals since 1993. Adam co-founded ABLE Financial Group in 2006 with the vision of providing unbiased, holistic financial planning and investment management in a comprehensive fashion and with unparalleled service.

In addition to his work as a CFP® Practitioner, Adam has served as an adjunct faculty member of the Maricopa Community College and Central Arizona system focused on providing his students with personal financial management skills.  Additionally, Adam previously hosted a radio show called “The Truth About Money” for two years on KFNN 1510 AM.

Adam graduated from the University of Arizona, where he earned dual degrees in finance and accounting. Further continuing his education, he also earned the CFP® certification in 2003, which requires completing specific educational background, experience, passing a demanding examination, and maintaining high ethical standards.

When he is not serving the interests of his clients, Adam actively serves his community in a variety of leadership positions. In January 2020, he accepted a 2-year term as the Chairman of the Board of the Valley of the Sun Jewish Community Center. He was the 2023 co-Chair of the Jewish National Fund’s Annual Breakfast fundraiser.  In 2017, he helped establish the Professional Leadership Program with the Jewish Family and Children’s Services, which has provided meaningful resources and impact to the people they serve. Adam is also a Past Chair of the Arizona Community Foundation’s Tax & Legal Seminar Committee, actively participating on the Committee since 2001. In 2011, Adam and Lee began funding the ABLE Financial Group Philanthropic Fund at the Jewish Community Foundation, allowing them to support some of their favorite organizations and causes today and into the future.

Adam lives in Scottsdale with his wife, Cindy, their three sons, Jordan, Dylan, and Cameron, and their Golden Retriever, Nelson and Yellow Lab, Sunny. Adam is active in his children’s lives.  In 2013, he and his then 13-year-old son, Jordan, completed the 1.5-mile swim from Alcatraz, raising money for Aquatic Safety and Training. He is also an avid cyclist and enjoys taking the family on unique travel experiences.

The Barron’s Top 1,200 Advisors rankings are based on assets under management, revenue generated for the advisors’ firms, and the quality of the advisors’ practices. Investment performance isn’t an explicit factor because clients have varied goals and risk tolerances.

Larry Van Quathem, CFP®

Senior Financial Advisor

After earning a Bachelor of Science in Finance from the University of Arizona in 1993, Larry followed in his father’s footsteps just two years later. They worked together for more than a decade before Bob retired in 2009, and after gaining 20 years of experience at Merrill Lynch, Larry joined ABLE Financial Group in 2015. He saw it as a great opportunity to increase the quality of service for his clients and to have more control over how that service is delivered.

As a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) professional, Larry excels at listening to each client’s personal goals and then offering various approaches to help achieve those goals using a written plan of action. He creates a personalized service model for every client, enabling him to serve as a financial coach for his clients and make sure they are taking appropriate action to help reach their investment objectives and life goals.

As a Financial Advisor at ABLE Financial Group, Lane Reynolds works closely with individuals and small businesses to help them plan and invest for the future. He has personal and practical experience in helping his clients navigate the financial complexities of retirement, marriage, divorce, disability, death of a loved one, paying for higher education, changes in employment, and long-term healthcare issues. Above all, Lane recognizes and values the personal nature of what he does for his clients, and he appreciates the trust and respect needed in the advisor/client relationship.

Lane is a 1985 graduate of Brigham Young University, earning a degree in Business Management with an emphasis in Finance. While he values his formal education and securities registrations, he also takes great pride in the knowledge and practical education that comes from being in the financial services industry for nearly 35 years.

Matt Cherry, CFP®

Financial Advisor

Growing up in a world where it seemed debt was part of everyone’s life, Matt found himself following the same path. He soon realized this was not the way he would meet his goals. He worked his way out of debt, and found an interest in how money works. In his late twenties, Matt stepped away from his career to focus on his education.

In 2014, Matt graduated Magna Cum Laude from the WP Carey School of Business at Arizona State University, where he earned a degree in finance. In 2018, he earned the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) certification. His extensive education and training fed his passion for helping others pursue their investment goals.

Matt spent the first few years of his financial career with Charles Schwab, before transitioning to an independent practice. While he is grateful for the education he received along the way, he was excited to join ABLE Financial Group in 2021. As a financial advisor, he gets to do what he loves, helping individuals pursue their investment objectives.

Outside of the office, Matt looks for active ways to help the community. He served as a Big Brother with Valley Big Brothers Big Sisters. Twice, he completed “America’s Most Beautiful Bike Ride,” a 100-mile bicycle ride around Lake Tahoe to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Matt is a native to Arizona, currently living in Chandler with his wife, Lindsey, their two daughters, Emma and Lyla, and dog, Stitch. Family time is a major priority, taking weekend trips to Mexico, going on a hike, or simply playing games together in the backyard. He was an avid cyclist until a back injury led to surgery in 2017. This is when he found his new passion, yoga. He will attest his daily yoga practice is the main reason he is able to walk today.

Peter Eickelberg, CFA®, CFP®

Peter brings to ABLE Financial Group more than 20 years of experience as well as broad formal training across many aspects of financial services, including investment types and strategies, investment planning, private equity, compliance, and investment committee best practices. He has been a CFA Charterholder since 2004.

He has served clients locally as a registered representative with a major discount brokerage and as an independent registered investment advisor with two independent registered investment advisors in the Valley. His past roles have included Chief Compliance Officer and Senior Investment Officer. The latter position involved a major US-Canada wealth management firm, where he oversaw all investment operations and strategy decisions. Peter also served on the board of directors for the CFA Society of Phoenix and was president from 2008 to 2009.

Instead, he has two degrees in English and was briefly a teacher both in the US and overseas. He maintains his interest in languages and international travel, though, and hopes to continue enhancing his language skills and cultural experiences outside of work.

Peter is a Phoenix native (yes, they do exist!), having spent most of his life in the Biltmore area. He lives on an oversized, flood-irrigated lot where he grows around 15 different kinds of fruit-bearing trees and bushes and also cultivates vegetable and herb gardens as well as decorative plants.
