Adam M. Brooks, CFP®

Managing Director
Senior Financial Advisor

Adam Brooks brings a unique perspective on business ownership and financial planning, shaped by his upbringing in a family business. He applies the same level of passion to help his clients achieve their financial goals, as is required to make a business venture succeed. In 2021, he received recognition as one of Barron’s Top 1,200 Financial Advisors and was named a Top Wealth Advisor in Arizona by Forbes/SHOOK. 

Adam co-founded ABLE Financial Group in 2006. His vision was to offer unbiased, holistic financial planning and investment management with exceptional service. He earned dual degrees in finance and accounting from the University of Arizona and obtained the CFP® certification in 2003, showcasing his commitment to education and ethical standards.  As a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) practitioner, Adam has shared his financial expertise as an adjunct faculty member at the Maricopa Community College and Central Arizona system, focusing on imparting personal financial management skills to his students. He also hosted a radio show, “The Truth About Money,” on KFNN 1510 AM for two years. 

Beyond his professional achievements, Adam actively engages in community service. He served as the Chairman of the Board of the Valley of the Sun Jewish Community Center and co-Chair of the Jewish National Fund’s Annual Breakfast fundraiser. Adam played a crucial role in establishing the Professional Leadership Program with the Jewish Family and Children’s Services in 2017. Additionally, he served as the co-Chair of the Jewish Family & Children’s Service’s Brighter Tomorrow Luncheon. Adam is a Past Chair of the Arizona Community Foundation’s Tax & Legal Seminar Committee and started the ABLE Financial Group Philanthropic Fund in 2011 at the Jewish Community Foundation. 

In his personal life, Adam resides in Scottsdale with his wife, Cindy, and their three sons, Jordan, Dylan, and Cameron. They share their home with their Golden Retriever, Nelson, and Yellow Lab, Sunny. Adam actively participates in his children’s lives, embarking on adventures like a 1.5-mile swim from Alcatraz with his son, Jordan, in 2013, raising funds for Aquatic Safety and Training. As well as being an avid cyclist, Adam enjoys unique travel experiences with his family. 

The Barron’s Top 1,200 Advisors rankings are based on assets under management, revenue generated for the advisors’ firms, and the quality of the advisors’ practices. Investment performance isn’t an explicit factor because clients have varied goals and risk tolerances.

Larry Van Quathem, CFP®

Senior Financial Advisor

Larry Van Quathem, an Arizona native, has deep roots in the financial services industry. His father became a Financial Consultant for Merrill Lynch when Larry was just seven years old, sparking his early exposure to the world of finance. After obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Finance from the University of Arizona in 1993, Larry followed in his father’s footsteps just two years later. They worked together for over a decade until his fathers’ retirement in 2009. With 20 years of experience at Merrill Lynch,  Larry joined ABLE Financial Group in 2015, seeing it as an opportunity to enhance service quality for his clients and have more control over service delivery . 

As a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) professional, Larry excels at listening to each client’s personal goals and offers tailored approaches to help achieve those goals using a written plan of action. He creates a personalized service model for every client, serving as a financial coach  working with corporate executives, and a deep knowledge of the college planning landscape.

Larry is actively involved in the community, currently serving on the Board of Governors for the Boys and Girls Club of Scottsdale. His past community service includes serving on the Board of Delta Sigma Pi Leadership Foundation, the Board of Directors for the Association for Supportive Childcare and being a past active member of the Scottsdale 20-30 club. Professionally, Larry has been a member of the Central Arizona Estate Planning Council since 2010. 

Residing in Phoenix with his son Jake, Larry enjoys golf in his leisure time. He also shares his home with his French Bulldogs, Rocky and Birdie.

Lane Reynolds

Senior Financial Advisor

As Financial Advisor at ABLE Financial Group. Lane has extensive experience in the financial services industry, spanning over 35 years. He graduated from Brigham Young University in 1985 with a degree in Business Management, focusing on Finance.

Lane’s work involves closely collaborating with individuals and small businesses to assist them in planning and investing for the future. He is well-versed in various financial matters including Risk Management solutions, such as life, disability, and long-term care insurance, as well as the various annuity solutions.

Lane values both his formal education and the practical knowledge gained through years of experience in the financial services sector. He emphasizes the personal nature of his work and acknowledges the importance of trust and respect in the advisor-client relationship.

Residing in Mesa with his wife, Melenie, Lane is a proud parent of five children and a growing number of grandchildren. The couple actively participates in their community, serving in roles such as coach, teacher, supporter, and fan. They have also been involved in fundraising for their local high school booster club, contributing to the athletic and music departments. 

In addition to their community engagement, Lane and his wife are active in their church and regularly participate in humanitarian and charitable projects. In his leisure time, Lane enjoys golfing and spending time outdoors.

Deborah Baldini

Senior Financial Advisor

Deborah Baldini, a seasoned professional with over 30 years of experience and a lifelong learner in the realm of financial markets, was formerly the founder and president of Baldini Investment Strategies. At her independent practice, Deborah offered innovative wealth, retirement, and investment strategies tailored to the unique needs of her clients, aiming to help them effectively manage and safeguard their wealth.

She has drawn on her extensive background and experience in capital markets, technical analysis, and discretionary portfolio management to create a proprietary investment process that is designed to adapt to changes in market conditions in a systematic and disciplined way, potentially giving clients the confidence to stay the course and steer clear of the emotional minefields of fear and greed.

Before founding Baldini Investment Strategies in 2013, Deborah spent 20 years at Prudential Securities, working her way up from Margin Clerk to Operations Manager, to Assistant Vice President, to Financial Advisor. She spent 9 years at RBC Dain Rauscher where she held the title Vice President-Investments before joining Raymond James in 2008. She holds the Series 7, 8, 63 and 65 licenses and has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Tulane University and a Master of Arts degree in Italian Language and Literature from UCLA.

Deborah lives her core values of compassion, kindness, and service to those in need on a daily basis as she cares for her disabled adult daughter and her daughter’s best friend, both of whom require assistance to be able to live on their own. Over the years she has been a fierce advocate for both girls and is well-versed in the laws governing both the Arizona mental health system and federal disability benefits. Her husband Ken shares the same values which he puts to good use working with autistic children and children with a history of trauma, abuse, and neglect as a Senior Behavior Management Specialist with Arizona’s Children Association.

Deborah was born and raised in Ohio. After attending university in New Orleans, Rome, Italy, and Los Angeles, she moved to Tempe, Arizona in 1978. She and Ken have three children, Micol, Robert, and Alia, one grandchild, and one on the way. Deborah enjoys the arts, crafts, foreign languages and cultures, mountains, beaches, hiking, reading, learning new things, and spending time with family.

Laurel Kutler, CFP®

Financial Advisor

Laurel, 0riginally from a small town in North Carolina, Laurel is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She earned a degree in communications with a focus in public relations.

Beginning her career as a financial advisor with Edward Jones, Laurel is driven by a combination of passion for finance and a commitment to make a positive impact on individuals’ lives. She saw financial advisory as a unique opportunity to empower others with the knowledge and strategies needed to secure their financial futures.  

Laurel specializes in working closely with 401(k) plans and their participants, as well as assisting divorcees and widows. She brings energy and enthusiasm to solving client needs and often with the empathy needed to help them navigate difficult situations.

Currently residing in Scottsdale, Laurel has diverse interests outside of her professional life. She enjoys hiking, hosting dinner parties for friends, and takes pleasure in traveling whenever possible.

Matt Cherry, CFP®

Financial Advisor

Matt is a distinguished professional with a Magna Cum Laude degree in finance from the WP Carey School of Business at Arizona State University. He is also a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®), showcasing his dedication to excellence. After starting his career at Charles Schwab and working with an independent firm for a few years, Matt joined ABLE Financial Group in January 2021. At ABLE Financial Group, he specializes in Social Security planning and played a key role in implementing the industry-leading planning software, eMoney. 

Passionate about giving back, Matt has been a Big Brother with Valley Big Brothers and Big Sisters, fostering mentorship and support. He volunteers with various organizations in the Valley and sits on the Professional Advisory Council for the Southwest Autism Research and Resource Center (SARRC). 

An avid cyclist, Matt completed the challenging “America’s Most Beautiful Bike Ride” twice, riding 100 miles around Lake Tahoe to raise funds for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.  A severe back injury in 2017 led to surgery and a shift in his cycling path. However, this adversity introduced a new passion – YOGA. Matt’s daily yoga practice has become a cornerstone of his life, contributing not only to his physical well-being but also playing a crucial role in his recovery and ability to walk. 

Outside the office, Matt revolves around his two delightful daughters, Emma & Lyla. Being an Arizona native, family time often involves exploring the state and enjoying weekends on the beach in Mexico for rest and relaxation. 

Brandon Perlow

Financial Advisor

Brandon Perlow has a diverse background, originally hailing from Buffalo Grove, Illinois. He graduated early in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science degree, double-majoring in Political Science and History, with honors, from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Following this, in 2010, he earned a Master of Science degree in Public Policy & Administration from the London School of Economics, with merit.

Between 2010 and 2013, Brandon worked in the private equity sector in Los Angeles, California. From 2013 to 2017, he engaged in public speaking across the United States, focusing on topics related to student travel and cultural intelligence (CQ). Impressively, Brandon has extensive travel experience, having visited all 7 continents and all 50 states before the age of 25.

In 2018, Brandon transitioned to the financial services industry in Arizona, concentrating on investment planning and retirement preparation. Holding AHIP Medicare Certification, he brings his experience and education to clients of ABLE Financial Group. He previously served as a Financial Advisor at both Merrill Lynch and Prudential Advisors in Scottsdale and Phoenix.

Beyond his professional pursuits, Brandon is passionate about volunteering. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for Gesher Disability Resources in Scottsdale and the University of Wisconsin Hillel Foundation. He is also on the Board of Directors for the Alumni & Friends of the London School of Economics in the United States.

In the past, Brandon has contributed to various boards, including the City of Scottsdale Loss Trust Fund Board of Directors, the Real Estate & Finance Committee of the Jewish Federation of Greater Phoenix, and Business B’yachad at Temple Kol Ami.

In his spare time, Brandon is an avid runner, hiker, and adventurer. In 2021, he ran over 1,000 miles and served on the Pace Team for the Rock n Roll Arizona Marathon and Half Marathon in 2020, 2022, and 2023. He has achieved remarkable physical feats, including summiting Mt. Kilimanjaro, the tallest mountain in Africa, and completing the Rim-2-Rim hike at the Grand Canyon. Brandon resides in Scottsdale with his wife Laurel, their daughter Naomi, and their rescue Siberian Husky, Laney.

Peter Eickelberg, CFA, CFP®

Senior Portfolio Manager

Peter brings to ABLE Financial Group more than 20 years of experience as well as broad formal training across many aspects of financial services, including investment types and strategies, investment planning, private equity, compliance, and investment committee best practices. He has been a CFA Charterholder since 2004.

He has served clients locally as a registered representative with a major discount brokerage and as an independent registered investment advisor with two independent registered investment advisors in the Valley. His past roles have included Chief Compliance Officer and Senior Investment Officer. The latter position involved a major US-Canada wealth management firm, where he oversaw all investment operations and strategy decisions. Peter also served on the board of directors for the CFA Society of Phoenix and was president from 2008 to 2009.

What may come as a surprise is that Peter didn’t study finance in school and didn’t even know what a mutual fund was until 1998. Instead, he has two degrees in English and was briefly a teacher both in the US and overseas. He maintains his interest in languages and international travel, though, and hopes to continue enhancing his language skills and cultural experiences outside of work.

Peter is a Phoenix native (yes, they do exist!), having spent most of his life in the Biltmore area. He lives on an oversized, flood-irrigated lot where he grows around 15 different kinds of fruit-bearing trees, When he can find time, he enjoys practicing guitar and piano.

Josef Khan

Client Service Associate
Operations Manager

Josef Khan, an Arizona native, boasts 15 years of experience in the financial services sector. Throughout his career, he has managed an independent practice, delved into compliance risk identification within a broker-dealer, and gained exposure to various aspects of investment services. Josef’s contributions include designing procedures used by financial professionals nationwide, analyzing data to mitigate risk, and overseeing corrective action to address compliance issues.

Josef has been an integral part of ABLE Financial Group, serving as a Client Service Associate and Office Manager. Leveraging his extensive experience, he looks forward to identifying clients’ needs and helping them use ABLE Financial Group’s vast resources.  Josef is a problem-solver and constantly finds creative solutions to assist the team and ABLE Financial Group’s clients.

Outside of his professional commitments, Josef enjoys hiking, exploring cultures through food, and tinkering with technology in his free time.

Rick Steiman

Senior Registered Client Services Associate

Rick brings a diverse and extensive background in financial services to ABLE Financial Group, accumulating two decades of experience across investment management, insurance, and bank industries. He holds Series 7, Series 63 and Series 65 registrations, along with an Arizona Life Insurance License, showcasing his commitment to professional qualifications. 

Joining ABLE Financial Group as a Registered Client Services Associate, Rick is enthusiastic about being part of an organization that prioritizes serving client needs, aligning with his own values cultivated over his career. 

Originally from Boston, Rick has embraced life in the Valley for over 20 years. He is dedicated to giving back to the community, actively volunteering with organizations such as Smile on Seniors in Phoenix. Rick is also committed to philanthropy, donating 10% of his income to charitable causes. His generosity extends to regular blood donations, having contributed over 100 units of blood over the years. 

In a remarkable act of kindness, Rick donated a kidney to someone who was on dialysis in 2021, demonstrating his commitment to making a positive impact on others’ lives. 

In his leisure time, Rick is passionate about exercise, with basketball being his favorite sport. 

Rick is a multifaceted individual committed to professional excellence, community service, and personal well-being. 

Kris Gibson

Senior Registered Client Services Associate

Kris Gibson brings an impressive background with over 30 years of experience in the financial services industry. She holds Series 6, 7, 63, and 66 licenses, demonstrating her expertise in trust management, investments, banking, and insurance.

Kris serves as a trusted point of contact for clients. Her depth of experience includes Estate Processing, providing operational and administrative support to Financial Advisors, knowledge of firm policy, procedures and technology, managing daily account maintenance, fulfilling client requests, and providing exemplary support and service to the team and its clients. Kris is driven by her passion to help others and takes pride in delivering the best possible client experience.

Outside of her professional commitments, Kris enjoys hiking, spending time with family and friends, and traveling. As an Arizona native, she lives locally and has two children and two granddaughters. Kris actively contributes to her community by volunteering at various charities and her local church.

Yovanna Sanchez

Yovanna, a dynamic professional with a diverse background and a passion for both finance and the arts. Yovanna embarked on her educational journey at New Mexico State University before further honing her skills at the Art Institute of Hollywood, CA.

In the financial industry, Yovanna has worn many hats, showcasing her versatility and expertise. Her roles have ranged from Operational Manager and Relationship Manager to HOA-Specialty Account Specialist and Business Account Portfolio Manager. With a keen eye for detail and a strategic mindset, she has made significant contributions in these capacities.

Yovanna’s influence extends beyond the financial realm, as she also takes the reins of marketing initiatives at ABLE Financial Group. Her responsibilities span managing social media, crafting engaging monthly and quarterly newsletters, and using her artistic flair for graphic design in the creation of print materials.

Outside the office, Yovanna finds joy in exploration. A travel enthusiast, she loves to immerse herself in new cultures and experiences. Her commitment to family shines through as she cherishes quality time spent with her loved ones. Beyond the professional and personal spheres, Yovanna is a creative soul, engaging in various artistic projects that showcase her imaginative spirit.

What truly sets Yovanna apart is her dedication to community service. Believing strongly in giving back, she actively volunteers with organizations such as Arizona Helping Hands, Dress for Success Phoenix, and Saving Paws Rescue Arizona. Through her philanthropic endeavors, Yovanna is making a positive impact on the lives of those in need.

Alice Levy

Client Service Associate

Alice Levy is a dedicated administrative professional with a passion for serving others. With a career spanning various sectors including government, banking, and healthcare, Alice has honed her skills in customer service, advocacy, and organizational management.

Throughout her career, Alice has been committed to making a positive difference in people’s lives. From assisting veterans in navigating benefit claims to providing compassionate care as a private home health caregiver, she approaches every role with empathy and integrity.

In addition to her professional endeavors, Alice has been actively involved in volunteer work, including serving with AmeriCorps to support homeless individuals and assisting with employment services through the LDS Church. She believes in giving back to her community and strives to make a meaningful impact wherever she goes.

Alice holds an Associate of Applied Science in Computer Information Systems from Provo Business College. Her proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, strong communication skills, and attention to detail have been instrumental in her success across various roles.

Outside of work, Alice enjoys spending time outdoors, exploring new places, and engaging in creative pursuits such as writing and photography. She values time spent with family and friends, cherishing moments of connection and laughter.
